about

Cumbancha is pleased to introduce Sangit, a producer, percussionist and songwriter from Israel whose passion for the sounds of the globe have led him to collaborate with a range of artists from different backgrounds and cultures. Sangit's debut album "Librar" was released on March 22, 2019, as part of the Cumbancha Discovery series, which seeks to introduce exceptional new talent to international audiences.

The album's first single, "Child of a War," features Malian singer Djely Tapa and Canadian singer Ali Overing, and the video was filmed in Montreal by cinematographer Kes Tagney. The powerful song was inspired by the true story of a 15-year old Sudanese refugee who, after experiencing indescribable horrors, wished only for books and a chance to return to school to continue her education. The song is a call for sympathy for the suffering of refugees and a message of hope in the face of violence and war.
